About this digital tool
The late payment interest calculator works out the interest owed on a payment made after its due date: an invoice, a contractual obligation or a debt. Enter the unpaid amount, the date it was due and the payment date (or today), and the tool gives the number of days late, the interest and the total owed. The simple formula is: interest = amount × annual rate × days ÷ 365.
The late-payment rate can be set by law, by contract or by agreement, so enter the one that applies to your case. The tool is useful for businesses chasing late customers and for individuals who want to know what a delay costs them. The result is an estimate; for legal matters consult a lawyer.
How to use
- Enter the unpaid amount.
- Set the due date and the payment date (or today).
- See the calculated late-payment interest and the total amount.
Frequently asked questions
What is the late payment interest rate?
The rate varies by law — usually the Bank of Albania base rate plus a few percentage points. Check the current rate.
When does late payment interest start?
It starts from the first day after the payment deadline. For tax invoices, the deadline is the last filing date.
How is late payment interest calculated?

Who sets the late payment interest rate?
It can be regulated by law or agreed in the contract. Check the contract and the legal acts in force before claiming interest.
