About this digital tool
The calories burned calculator estimates how many kcal the body spends during physical activity. Choose the activity (walking, running, cycling, swimming, weightlifting, yoga, football), enter your weight and the duration in minutes, and get the calories burned.
The calculation is based on the activity's MET value (Metabolic Equivalent of Task): calories = MET × weight (kg) × time (hours). For example, brisk walking has a MET of 5, so a 70 kg person walking for an hour burns about 350 kcal. It is an average estimate, because fitness, terrain and real intensity change the result. Use it to compare activities and plan training, not as an exact measure.
How to use
- Choose the physical activity.
- Enter your body weight and the duration.
- See the calories burned.
Frequently asked questions
How many calories does running burn?
It depends on weight and speed. About 60–100 kcal/km is a common estimate for an average person.
How are calories burned from an activity calculated?
The formula used is MET × weight (kg) × time (hours). Each activity has a MET value that reflects its intensity: e.g. slow walking 3.5, moderate running 9.8.
Why does a heavier person burn more calories?
Because moving a heavier body takes more energy. In the same activity and time, calories rise in proportion to weight.
Are the calories burned shown by the calculator accurate?
They are average estimates, not individual measurements. Smartwatches and other devices give different values, so use it for comparison and not as an exact nutritional target.
