Body Type Calculator
Determine your body type (ectomorph, mesomorph, endomorph) from body measurements.
Tip: Body type is not destiny — a trained endomorph can be healthier than a sedentary ectomorph. Use it as a guide, not a limit.

About this digital tool
The body type calculator helps you understand whether your body tends towards ectomorph (lean), mesomorph (athletic) or endomorph (prone to storing fat). Enter your height, weight, wrist circumference, elbow width and gender, and get the main type, your BMI and the size of your bone frame.
The concept comes from somatotypes, which are rough descriptions, not rigid scientific classifications; most people are a mixture of types. Type does not determine your fate: training and nutrition can change the body. Use it as a guide for choosing a training and nutrition programme, not as a health diagnosis. For a personalised plan, consult a trainer or nutritionist.
How to use
- Enter your height and weight
- Enter the wrist circumference
- Measure the elbow width
- Enter the body fat percentage (if you know it)
- See your dominant type and the recommendations
Frequently asked questions
What are the three body types?
Ectomorph: narrow frame, fast metabolism, difficulty gaining weight. Mesomorph: broad shoulders, naturally muscular, gains and loses weight easily. Endomorph: broad frame, tendency to gain weight, stores fat easily.
Can I change my body type?
Not the skeletal structure, but body composition yes. An endomorph can be very fit with training and diet, although the natural tendency remains. The programme should be adapted, not fight nature.
How is body type measured?
The Heath-Carter method uses: (1) skinfolds (triceps, subscapular, suprailiac, calf), (2) bone diameters (elbow, knee), (3) muscle circumferences, plus height and weight.
How do I measure elbow width?
Bend the arm to 90 degrees and measure the distance between the two side bones of the elbow with a caliper or with your fingers and a ruler. This measurement shows the size of the bone frame.
Are body types permanent?
The bone frame doesn't change, but muscle and fat mass do. So the look of the body can change significantly with training and nutrition.
