Tip: Base64 is not encryption — it just converts binary into text. Don't use it for security.

About this digital tool
The Base64 encoder and decoder turns text into Base64 and vice versa. Choose Encode or Decode, type or paste the text and the result appears instantly, with the length of the input and the output.
Base64 represents binary data with 64 safe characters (letters, numbers, + and /). The tool encodes the text as UTF-8, so Albanian letters ë and ç are handled correctly. It is used in emails, tokens, images embedded in HTML and APIs. The process happens entirely in your browser, without sending the text to a server. Base64 is not encryption, anyone can decode it, so don't use it to hide sensitive data.
How to use
- Choose the mode: Encode or Decode.
- Type or paste the text into the input field.
- Read the result that appears instantly.
- Copy the result and compare the input length with the output length.
Frequently asked questions
When is Base64 used?
For embedding images in HTML/CSS (data URI), sending attachments in email, APIs with JSON, and encoding binary data as text.
Is Base64 a type of encryption?
No. It is merely a way of encoding and anyone can turn it back into the original text. To protect data use real encryption.
Why is Base64 longer than the original text?
Because every 3 bytes become 4 characters, so the result is about 33% larger. The tool shows the length of the input and the output for comparison.
How do I decode a Base64 text?
Choose Decode, paste the Base64 text into the field and read the result. If the text is not valid Base64, the result comes out empty.
