Bandwidth Calculator
Calculate the bandwidth needed or the transfer time for set amounts of data.
Tip: Internet speed is measured in Mbps (megabits per second), while file size is in MB (megabytes). 1 MB = 8 Mbit, so with 100 Mbps you can download about 12.5 MB/s.

About this digital tool
Bandwidth determines how fast data can be transferred. This calculator has two modes: (1) Calculate the time needed to transfer an amount of data at your speed, (2) Calculate the bandwidth needed to transfer within a set time. It is useful for planning backups, streaming, and choosing an internet package.
How to use
- Choose the mode: transfer time or bandwidth needed
- Enter the data size (MB, GB, TB)
- Enter the speed (Mbps) or the time you want
- See the result
- Compare with the packages of Albanian ISPs
Frequently asked questions
How much internet is needed for streaming?
YouTube 1080p: 5 Mbps. Netflix 4K: 25 Mbps. Zoom video: 3 Mbps. Online games: 5–10 Mbps (but low latency matters more). For a household with 4+ devices: 100+ Mbps.
Why is real speed lower?
ISPs advertise maximum speed. Factors that lower it: distance from the antenna/cabinet, number of users, Wi-Fi versus cable, protocols (overhead ~5-10%), a distant server.
Mbps or MBps — what is the difference?
Mbps = megabits per second (used for internet speed). MBps = megabytes per second (used for files). 1 MBps = 8 Mbps. A common confusion!
Why does the result include a value with 10% extra?
Because in practice some of the bandwidth is used up by protocols and network overhead. The tool also shows the value with 10% extra, so you have a more realistic forecast.
